P-RN is a collaborative artwork of Evelyn Bencicova, Elizabeth Boeva, Giulia Gaffo, Arielle Esther, and Chanel Verdult.
Art recycles, references, and reflects on its own history. P-RN (Post-Raphaelite Nature) pays homage to Pre-Raphaelite aesthetics while dualistically questioning its traditional core principles and motivations that typically strive to create pure and perfect imitations of nature overtly through objectifying women from the male creator’s gaze. The most well-known society of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood consisted exclusively of male members.
Women are not solely bound as muse or an object of desire like in past paradigms. They are by definition the turn of the century- always was and is, a creator herself in which the nature of hierarchical structures has been reclaimed. The performer, photographer, editor, sound designer, and curator all congregate in their diverse strengths. P-RN reflects the continuous evolution of the times we live in.
P-RN has been collected by Unicorn DAO - building gender-fluid utopias, redistributing wealth and visibility in order to create equality for women-identified and lgbtq+ people, co-founded by Pussy Riot.
