Sungazing is a project by Studio Labour. Visuals created by Evelyn Bencicova, Enes Guc, and Zeynep Schilling.
While finding inspiration in Zoroastrianism, an Iranian religion thousands of years old, and its rituals revolving around fire and the sun. Working with Xenakian techniques such as stochastic distribution and sieves theory, the artists regard sungazing as a metaphor for an experimental lifestyle practice that prioritizes the potential of an empirically derived emancipatory practice over the potential dangers of indulgence and mispractice. “Sungazing” dives further into the possibilities within club culture’s hedonism to political action and civil disobedience.
